Hello im joel eric president of star auchizen support and professor port on state university im a lead author the star program and a links current。 I have over forty years experience working with children with autism star autism support is excited to share the latest research information with you as part of autism or nessment star autism support also known as sas is a leader in credion develop ment and research in evidence based practices for student with logism and student to development a delay sas provides training and support in the usa canada australia europe in china stratezen support in partnership with oriented speech therapy has established centers for children of autism throughout china autism is behavily defined is usually identified in united states by age three. many children with autism have delayed language development which is noticed by parentsbeginning around16 months of age autism is a spector disorder it is across a wide development and behavioral spector of childrenthe fact that autism is a spector disorder means that children who are diagnosed with autism have a range of abilities strengths and weakness insights of children in the USA are estimated as high as one in 59 by the us center of disease control。 It is four times more common in boys than in girls the causebotism is not not known the research is ongoing diagnosis is based on behavior characteristics professionals use a standardize autism rating scale to compare each child with other channel with autism to help make the diagnosis however is important to conduct a comprehensive educational assessment in order design an effective treatment plan typically asd is diagnosed during the earlychildyears comparance notice typicaldy with communication social in place goals the usa is recently made progress in diagnosing auchism an earlier age as doctors conduct autism screening on all children during whilebabycare visites although there is currently no cure the national autism center reports that impressive a long term like outcomes can occur when children receive early intervention the following video provides examples of the characteristics of autism.

Can affect learning communication difficulties make it hard to learn new things some children have difficultly understanding what others are saying and difficulty expressing their wants and ideas also a lack of motivation to play with peers makes it challenging to learn from other children children methotusm can learn but sometimes out of the same name way as other children treatmen approaches need to be evidence based evidence based approaches have been carefully studied and research on particular populations of children they are proven to be effective this means that children make progress that you can see and quantify ebonus base practices have been identified by the national autism center in the usa they found a pattern of findings that suggest treatments from the behavior literature of the strongest research supported this time the usa nationautism center has identified fourteen established treatments however a comprehensive behavial treatment has the most evidence comprehensive evidence based strategies are used at the ost store centers some of these evidence based practices include people response training could teach communication play and social skills the screen trial training to teach receptive language and ecodemics function routine teaching and task analysis to teach independence of functional skills and the use of positive behavior supports throughout the day these approaches have led the significant progress of children overtime using these evidence based practices your children can learn but may learn in different ways another children through parent training we can help you understand the strategies they can help your child learn new things once you learn the strategies you can implement the strategies the home as part of your daily activities it wont take any extra time the future of positive interventions looks bright are data from the ost start centers point to positive outcomes for children with asd with earlyintensive intervention this first grade f shows that children who received instruction at the ost start centers made significant progress over time each of these next two slides show the each child in the listed ost star center made progress regardless of the amount of time they arenrolled and the longertheyarenrolled the more progress each child made the ost start centers go implemen an upgraded schedule the provides one hour of one to one one studen and one instructor and one and a half hours of function routine instruction the one to one instruction will include the evident base practice of the st trial training povoresponse training and independent work activities each trial received two sessions of the discreet trial training and pilver response training along with one session of independent work activities during the one hour time period they will be learning skills and the areas of communication social skills academic skills and play skills the children will also be learning to to independently transition to in each of the activities the functionroutine instruction is designed to teach the children to use the skills theyve been learning during the one to one instructional time the functionroutines align with activities the children need to do in a typical school program or home activities include circltime snack small group learning toilet in several center based activities the focus of this instruction is the teachchildren spontaneous communication skills to follow instructions given to the whole group and become more independent of teacherphysical prompting we believe the two and a half hours of the ost start courses designed in such a way to write an effective program for trim with autism and children with other of other developsibilities in addition saas has develop the series of parent training sessions the center coach will arrive the parent training sessions on a regular basis the purpose of the parent training sessions is to give parent away help their children use the skills theyre learning at school during their normal daily activities we believe that by working together we will be able to make significant progress with your child.
